SHRP is the largest Chicago Chapter of the internationally recognized HR organization, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). We are not only the largest within the Chicagoland area, but SHRP is also among the largest SHRM chapters in the U.S. with over 1,000 members. Our charter is to enhance and support the development of human resource professionals in the Chicago metropolitan area by providing the most essential and comprehensive set of resources. We'd love to have you join and become an active member of our Chapter.

If you’ve been an active member of SHRP then you realize the multitude of benefits that come as a result of being involved; walking into a room and seeing all those familiar faces, realizing you can request a favor and people are happy to help, being appreciated for sharing your time and expertise...

Monthly programs that focus on current topics important to those in the HR community.
Monthly educational meetings where guest speakers, who are experts in their respective fields(s), are invited to present on current issues confronting organizations and HR professionals. These are typically breakfast or lunch sessions, and during the year we offer two all-day sessions and two legal updates.
SHRP Talk Monthly Roundtables provide discussion opportunities in a more intimate setting. These are usually morning sessions that typically include continental breakfast.
SHRP Career Exchange Roundtables help HR professionals network job leads and obtain training on skills they need to conduct a job search in today's tight job market.
PHR/SPHR Certification: PHR (Professional in Human Resources) or SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) certification has become increasingly more important for continued career advancement and is becoming more valued by employers. SHRP offers a highly successful, cost-effective preparation course for the HRCI certification exam. It is also a valuable course for anyone new to Human Resources or for the specialist who wants a better understanding of all HR functional areas.
Volunteer of the Year Award: Recognize the contributions of our members to the human resources field through SHRP's annual "Human Resources Volunteer of the Year Award." This exciting SHRP feature is significant in that we will have the opportunity to highlight a member each year who has made distinguishable contributions to the human resources profession.
