History of SHRP

SHRP is the Chicago Chapter of the internationally recognized HR organization, the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). SHRP is among the largest SHRM chapters in the U.S. Our charter is to enhance and support the development of human resource professionals in the Chicago metropolitan area.

In 2004, the Society of Human Resource Professionals' celebrated 50 years of serving the members of Chicagoland with the theme, Respecting History, Creating the Future. Our theme paid tribute to our past while recognizing that through the sharing of our ideas and supporting each other, we can continue to advance the HR profession for the future.

SHRP joined the Society of Human Resource Management on October 5, 1954. Back then the association was named the American Society of Personnel Administrators. SHRP has had the wonderful opportunity to be around for a long time and is a strong professional organization because of its members. It is the community of human resource professionals who have come together for the past 50 years to collaborate and share with each other that has made this organization so successful. SHRP is here because of your continued involvement in this chapter!
